Grant review overview

Grant quality review · October 15, 2026

A clearer grant case for every activity

The revised proposals foreground the practice gap, a distinct educational response, HEART RESERVE’s contribution, measurable outcomes and the prospective request. Each includes original case exhibits and a narrative bank for the authorized applicant.

What the review changed

Review priorityImplemented response
Clear openingAll six executive summaries now identify the gap, clinical decisions, audience, distinctive contribution, measurement and request.
Evidence of unmet needPublished practice-process evidence is separated from guideline standards, educational inference and the future audience’s baseline.
Cardiovascular purposeThe obesity/diabetes proposal makes cardiovascular prevention explicit while keeping its primary metabolic scope.
Credible case applicationFifteen proposed transfer exhibits across the five foundation activities, plus the expanded HFpEF formative and reserved follow-up banks, link baseline concepts to changed clinical circumstances.
Measurable impactFirst attempts, repeated-item limitations, proposed competence validation and self-reported follow-up are distinguished.
Accurate partner and cost claimsMike’s one-course quote, Andrea’s historical examples and the separate ReachMD discussion are clearly distinguished; all proposed educator payments remain below 20%.

What the public myCME examples do well

This comparison uses public course listings and indexed descriptions, checked October 15. Gated activities were not completed; learner experience, completion rates and educational effectiveness were not independently tested. The observations are design benchmarks, not evidence that these features caused funding or better outcomes.

Obesity care: first visit to maintenance

Public description uses a longitudinal patient journey. Use a changed circumstance and return-visit decision in each original HEART RESERVE case.

Obesity management during reproductive years

Public listing identifies interactive, clinically relevant OB/GYN case challenges. Show how the reproductive context changes a concrete decision; keep the broad metabolic course distinct from the focused medication-transition course.

Obesity management in a patient with HFpEF

Public listing presents a focused interactive case with objectives, faculty/disclosures and completion instructions. Keep each clinical question narrow and show faculty, credit and completion details explicitly when approved.

Treatment of diabetes with CKD and HF

Public description uses case studies to individualize treatment across overlapping conditions. Make the patient’s organ-risk goal, safety constraints and follow-up visible instead of presenting a drug-class catalogue.

Application requirements and remaining portal checks

Public requirements are verified below. No authenticated applicant portal has been reviewed or application submitted. The authorized applicant must reconcile its current fields, templates, attachments and agreement before submission.

Lilly · obesity/diabetes and conditional GLP-1 route

Online application; ≤20-page proposal excluding references/budget; ≥60-day lead time. Prepare executive summary, gaps, audience/recruitment, objectives, content/agenda, dates, budget and evaluation.

Current topic document, grant-type requirements, optional executive-summary template, budget template and outcomes-reporting guide remain inside the applicant portal.

Monthly participation and quarterly educational-outcome entries may be required. Tax documentation is requested after approval, not collected at initial application.

Official requirements

Bayer · CKD in type 2 diabetes

Complete online application and PDF attachments, including needs, objectives/agenda, itemized budget, signed W-9, accreditation evidence and applicable tax letter; ≥45 days before event.

Obtain the current budget template and complete faculty, recruitment and outcomes attachments; monthly review and ≥45-day response planning.

Reconcile within 60 days after completion; share activity/outcomes data within 30 days of availability, subject to agreement.

Official requirements

Amgen · cardiovascular/dyslipidemia candidate

US accredited-provider organization; signed request letter, needs, objectives, agenda, current W-9 and budgets in PDF. ≥60-day lead; agreement before funded development.

Use component-level hours/rates/units, separate full-program and Amgen-request budgets, and disclose other support and registration income. Confirm educator-cost eligibility.

The grant recipient reports use of funds within 60 days after completion.

Official requirements

Boehringer Ingelheim · national HF program

Saved October 7 HF RFP identifies a November 3, 2026 deadline for 2027 national/regional live or virtual education. The original RFP could not be reopened October 16; confirm the current deadline and eligibility before submission. Prepare audience needs/preferences and proposed Moore level 4 assessment.

Applicant must be the accreditor or content-controlling organization. Confirm enduring-companion eligibility and live delivery/recruitment quotes.

Final portal fields, agreement, outcomes schedule and expense reconciliation must be accepted by the applicant.

Official requirements

AstraZeneca · hyperkalemia

US MEGO online route; complete request at least 60 days before program start. Independent organizers retain faculty and content control.

Activity materials

Funding fit and all six budgets

Do the activities match their grants?

The active learner files, objectives and host assessment imports were checked together. The five foundation activities each have three cases, three baseline questions, six required case decisions and six final questions; their three proposed transfer items remain separate review exhibits. The expanded HFpEF companion has three modules, nine baseline questions, nine formative decisions, nine post questions and nine reserved 60-day follow-up items. HF also has three prepared live-session presentations and 27 separate live/retention items; these are proposed events, not completed delivery.

Final applicant decisions

Appoint the eligible applicant and accredited provider, obtain faculty commitments, accept activity-specific delivery and recruitment quotes, validate assessment forms and complete the current funder template. Clinical release also requires independent signoff, timed learner testing and host acceptance. Contributed prototype work is not charged retrospectively. A strong proposal improves clarity and fit; it cannot assure an award.
